Notes: This is one of the largest pecans growing in Virginia in 2007, with a circumfernce of 222 inches. It is the tallest of nine large pecan trees on the grounds of Summerville Plantation, est. 1735. Owner for 200 years was the Tabb family. John Tabb was an officer in the continental Army and friend of Thomas Jefferson. Possible connection with Jefferson and nuts brought back from the Mississippi Valley. |
