Notes: Located at Appomattox Court House National Historical Park, this tree graces the Confederate Cemetery where one Union and 18 Confederate soldiers are buried. These soldiers were a few of those killed in the final fighting before the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia on April 9, 1865. This oak, estimated to be approximately 90 years old, exhibits the classic form of a field-grown tree.
